Good morning, Auburn.

Auburn Food Bank moved to a new facility at 2804 Auburn Way N. thanks to an anonymous $800,000 donation that covered construction costs—this move has given the agency more space for storage and a shelter for the unhoused while serving 500 families, although its annual school food drive dropped by 30,000 pounds, reflecting a tougher economy.

After passing the U.S. House on April 10 by a 220-208 vote, the SAVE Act (H.R.

22) moves to the Senate and state officials warn it will require voters to show in-person proof of citizenship. Congressman Adam Smith said the measure could cost Washington over $361 million and may disenfranchise more than a million eligible voters if it becomes law.
