- ➤ Bob Roegner, the former mayor of Auburn and political columnist, died on April 11th at age 76 after battling dementia. He was honored with a key to the city and a park named for him—his family will announce memorial service details soon. Auburn Reporter
- ➤ Gov. Bob Ferguson said the state will appeal FEMA’s denial of disaster relief funds after the November 2024 bomb cyclone caused an estimated $34 million in damage and left 650,000 customers without power—FEMA rejected Washington’s application on April 11, and the state plans to use the appeal to seek funds for repairing public highways, utilities and power systems.
