CRIME NEWS

  • Kent Police are asking for help locating 51-year-old Avon A. Cobb, a domestic violence suspect wanted for an assault involving a firearm and eluding arrest after he fled a Kent apartment and later escaped from an Auburn building at 1520 W. Pike St.—the building caught fire during a SWAT standoff on April 8.  Auburn Reporter
  • On April 15, officers arrested three juveniles and one adult after a shoplifting incident turned robbery at Haggen when a juvenile allegedly threatened an employee with a gun; one juvenile was found carrying three handguns with extended magazines and switches and the suspects were booked on first-degree robbery and firearm charges while a child in the vehicle was safely released to a family member.  Auburn Reporter

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On April 14, Auburn City Council appointed Lisa Stirgus — replacing former councilmember Larry Brown who resigned for medical reasons on Feb. 16 — to serve the remaining eight-month term. She will hold the seat until the final council meeting in December after voters elect a new member in November.  Auburn Reporter
