COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Auburn residents can register to host the 42nd annual National Night Out on August 5 — an event that lets neighborhoods organize block parties, cookouts, and other gatherings with support from local police and city staff. The event provides free advertising materials and supplies, and offers assistance with permits for block parties requiring street closures.  Auburn Examiner
  • Auburn will host the free KidsDay festival to kick off summer for children and families; organizers from Auburn Parks, Arts — Recreation plan to offer activities that take advantage of local parks and programs at Les Gove Park throughout the season.  Auburn Examiner

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Between May 12th and May 18th, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to emergency calls in Auburn and nearby areas—incidents included a woman burned while cooking, adults with chest pain and breathing problems, an unresponsive man, a defibrillator activation, suspected opioid overdoses, and a fallen tree that downed wires.  Auburn Examiner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Auburn and other Western Washington communities have signed contracts to install Flock Safety cameras that record license plate images to help police track vehicles of interest — officials say the cameras assist in finding stolen cars. The systems focus on vehicles not people — though some residents remain worried about data retention and who can access the records.  KOMO News
