- ➤ Auburn Food Bank is planning a Hawaiian-themed Luau Gala fundraiser on Saturday, July 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church at 410 H Street NE to raise funds for a building remodel that will help serve local families + the event will feature dinner, drinks and live and silent auctions. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters responded Tuesday, June 10 to a garage fire at the 800 block of 45th Street NE that damaged four garage units and scorched the siding of a nearby apartment building—no injuries were reported and officials are investigating the cause. Auburn Examiner
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Auburn Police Officer Cook has been awarded the Medal of Life-Saving Recognition for his swift action—arriving in 90 seconds on Sept. 8 at an illegal discharge call near 3000 M Street SE and applying chest seals to a gunshot victim. The victim later survived the incident and was discharged from Harborview Medical Center. Auburn Examiner
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On June 6, Auburn—together with six other South King County cities—hosted free gun lockbox giveaways to promote safe storage of firearms in recognition of National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Officials said the Lock It Up program provided lockboxes to help reduce accidental shootings and firearm-related injuries. Auburn Reporter
