COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Spectators cheered as participants in inflatable T-Rex costumes raced down the track at Emerald Downs in Auburn on June 29th—this fun event began in 2017 as a team-building activity by a pest control company. The race brought the community together with its unique celebration of local creativity. KOMO News
- ➤ Jump Up Summer Fest will bring family-friendly fun to Auburn with bounce houses, face painting, food trucks and more held in the Outlet Collection Mall parking lot (near Red Robin). The festival will be held July 12-13 and Aug. 23-24 from 2 to 8 p.m. and is organized by a local family-owned party rental business. Auburn Examiner
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ At about 1:15 p.m. on June 30, a fatal two-car collision occurred on A Street SE in Auburn when a 28-year-old driver failed to stop for a red light and struck a vehicle turning left—resulting in a 65-year-old driver’s death and a street closure until around 4:50 p.m. as police continued their investigation. - ➤ Between June 23 and June 29, VRFA firefighters responded to many 911 calls in Auburn and nearby areas that included an overdose call, a car that broke through a fence with juveniles nearby, a motocross accident, and a lift assist for a man after surgery. They also attended a fatal shooting on SR 167, gave Narcan to another overdose victim, treated a youth with a fireworks injury, and fought a storage unit fire in Federal Way—officials are still investigating several incidents.
