- ➤ The Auburn Food Bank will hold its second annual Luau Fundraiser on Saturday, July 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church on H St. NE—tickets cost $50 and proceeds will fund local programs to fight food insecurity. Auburn Examiner
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Three candidates—Erica Tomas, Brian Lott and Yuval Fleming—are running for Auburn City Council Position 4 after the Aug. 5 primary, with the top two finishers moving on to the November general election. They shared ideas on improving public safety, housing and transportation for our community. Auburn Reporter
- ➤ Officer Ali of Auburn Police Department received the Medal of Merit for rescuing a woman from a possible suicide on June 19 when he approached her on a bridge on Auburn Way S. over R Street SE — his actions were recorded on body-worn camera and praised by Assistant Chief Sam Betz, who presented the award on July 9.
