CRIME NEWS

  • Maria Cassandra Rojas, 28, was charged with vehicular homicide after she sped above the 40 mph limit and ran a red light on June 30 at the intersection of A Street SE and 17th Street SE in Auburn—causing a crash that killed 64-year-old Jean A. McLaughlin.  Auburn Reporter

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Art in Bloom Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will run on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Soos Creek Botanical Garden where local and award-winning artists will display works for free admission (29308 132nd Ave. SE).  Auburn Examiner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Auburn residents, employees, business owners, and students can apply for a free Civics Academy that explains city government operations and ways to get involved. The nine-week course begins September 4 with evening classes from 6-8:30 p.m. and Saturday sessions on September 6, September 20, and September 7—space is limited and selection is based on application strength.  Auburn Examiner
