- ➤ A fatal crash occurred on SR 18 near the Green River Bridge at 8:12 p.m. Sept. 3 when one vehicle lost control and spun into the path of another—resulting in one man dying and two people being injured. Auburn Examiner
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ King County has agreed to pay $21.5 million to settle a lawsuit after a woman was attacked by two dogs while jogging in Auburn in February 2022 — the dogs came from a home with squatters and repeated neighbor complaints before officers shot one at the scene. Auburn Reporter
- ➤ Deputies responded to a call on Sept. 2 just after 7 a.m. in Auburn when a person who allegedly broke into a home was shot and killed by a resident — no arrests have been made and no ongoing danger is reported. Auburn Reporter

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students in grades one to twelve returned to the Auburn School District on Sept. 3 while kindergarteners will start on Sept. 8, totaling 17,800 students at 24 schools. The district is launching a no phone use policy and upgraded security — including secure entry vestibules and a new card access system — to help students focus and stay safe. Auburn Reporter

- ➤ WSDOT began installing five temporary braces on White River Bridge after damage on Aug.18 to allow one lane of alternating traffic until permanent repairs come later in September; these braces work like a cast for a broken bone.
