COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Auburn officials met on September 30 at City Hall to listen to 17 residents who raised concerns about rising youth crimes and speeding drivers in local neighborhoods. Led by Mayor Nancy Backus, the meeting covered volunteer opportunities, possible changes to sales tax rebates for homeownership, and plans to revive the Citizens on Patrol program—efforts that face challenges from officer shortages—.  Auburn Reporter

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On September 23, a truck hit a bridge girder on SR 167 near 3rd Avenue in Pacific/Algona, closing two northbound lanes and causing heavy delays while crews work on repairs that are expected to take months. The White River Bridge on SR 410 remains fully closed with detours adding up to 60 minutes, and a new four-lane bridge on Stewart Road—8th Street is under construction with nighttime closures on Oct—9 and Oct—10 and an expected completion in 2027.  Auburn Examiner
